Otolaryngologists frequently encounter nasal foreign bodies, particularly among children. Button alkaline batteries are dangerous because they cause rapid tissue destruction on contact with moist tissue. We encountered a case in which a button alkaline battery was accidentally trapped in the nasal cavity, causing perforation of the nasal septum.
