Data: Pen name: Mui-shitus, Ummo-an. Dharma transmission from Gisan Zenrai in Sogen-ji, Okayama. He also practiced Zen under Gido Shoken in Tenryu-ji. He became the Zen master of Tenryu-ji monastery in 1868 and the chief abbot of Tenryu-ji in 1871. His students were Ryusui Egyo, Ryoen Genseki, Toiku Tsuyo, Gazan Shotei and Tesshu Yamaoka as a layman. He produced many Zen masters and rebuilt Tenryu-ji, so he is called the refounder of Tenryu-ji.
