Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route
(Mt. Tateyama ---Oyama)
September 1 - 3, 2004

We traveled Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route. We stayed at Hotel Tateyama in Murodo plateau with an altitude of 2,450m and enjoyed climbing and trekking.
Mt. Tateyama(3003m), located in the north of Northern Alps has been opened as a sanctuary of the mountain faith. It is one of Japan's Three Sacred Mountains along with Mt.Fuji and Mt.Hakusan. It designates the chain of splendid mountains of 3000m high which tower in the east of Toyama prefecture.
Though it rained hard on one of the days when we stayed there, I enjoyed hiking up in Mt. Oyama(3,003m). Mt. Tateyamas were so beautiful and the shapes of the mountains are still in my mind.

First day walking : 10,340 steps
Second ddy hiking & mountaineering: 19,260 steps
Third day walking: 16,511steps

音羽山 Otowa-yama 593m

Feb. 7, 2004

Course Keihan-Otsu Line Ohtani Station ---- Semimaru Shrine ----- Tokaido Old Foot Trail ---Top of Mt. Otowa (593m) ---- Ushio Kannon ----- Keihan-Ohtsu Line Oiwake Station

Today, it was very cold. We enjoyed half-day hiking in Mt. Otowa, which is located between Kyoto and Shiga. On the top of Mt. Otowa piercing cold winds blow hard, but the scenery from there was splendid. We saw Kyoto city and Hama-otsu, and moreover snowcapped Mt. Hiras. We always feel happy after walking up hard and looking down at beautiful sceneries from the top. Frost formed on the mountain path. When we tramped upward, the path popped like telling spring is a little behind. It was cold today.

Mt. Atago, 10 January, 2004

We went to Mt.Atago this year, too. It has been warm these days. So The stairs to Atago shrine on the top was not ice-covered. We wenr up there by way of No head Zizo (KUBINASHI-ZIzo). It was fresh for us. The stream was always by the side of the route. and it gave us nice healing sounds.
