Hi, kids. I am Dr. Witch.

WITCH is my first name, and my last name is Abcdraabcdrajugemujugemugokounosurikire--- still continuing; that's too long to write hear. So just call me Dr. WITCH or Dr Witch A.

I am working in a virtual hospital. Of course I come to the hospital by riding a bloom, and after I arrive the hospital, I take off my black hat. So if you only see me in the hospital you may think I am not a witch but a human doctor.

One of my jobs is to answer the questions of kids, like you, who are going to have operation in some hospital.

You heard that you would have GENERAL ANESTHESIA during the operation? And you do not know what ANESTHESIA is, do you?

I will tell you what is ANESTHESIA.

ANESTHESIA is a kind of MAGIC, a very special MAGIC.

When this special MAGIC is given, you will feel nothing. You never feel pain when the surgeon cuts or sew up your focus.

What do you do if your Teddy got a tear?

Your dad or mammy will treat it by glue or by a needle and strips?

But your mammy or dad cannot sew your body at home. Do you know why?

Yes, your body is not so simple as your Teddy.　Only specialists can do it. Specialists called medical doctors can do it.

Moreover, as cutting and sewing body make pain, you need a special MAGIC to be free of pain. That special MAGIC is called ANESTHESIA.

There are two kinds of ANESTHESIA, local anesthesia and general anesthesia.

But I will tell you only about GENERAL ANESTHESIA here, because for children GENERAL ANESTHESIA is more common than LOCAL ANESTHESIA.

When you catch cold, you will take a pill, powder or liquid. But drugs used for ANESTHESIA are a little different.

There are three kinds; WITCH'S TAPE, MAGIC LIQUID, and MAGIC GAS.

First, let's use WITCH'S TAPE. If it has been attached on your skin for more than 1 hour, you will not feel pain of needle stick.

Roads of your body are called Vessels. So many red tiny cars (called red blood cells) are running through them.

A doctor will place a MAGIC NEEDLE into your VESSEL and a bottle of special fluid will be given through the MAGIC NEEDLE.

It will never hurt you because you had WITCH'S TAPE, and MAGIC NEEDLE.

Now it may be time for you to go to the operation room.

In the operation room,nurses and a doctor of ANESTHESIA (maybe another Dr. Witch, or my friend, Dr. Wizard) will be waiting for you.

If you did not have drip-infusion started in the ward, Dr Witch or Dr Wizard will start it by placing a MAGIC NEEDLE in your vessel.

Of course, you will not feel pain at all.

You will have and blood pressure cuff and so on.

You can see special machines in the operation room as shown here.

Next, the doctor (Dr Witch or Dr Wizard) will give you MAGIC LIQUID by MAGIC SYRINGE. Magic syringe does not have needle and so it cannot give you pain of course.

And now, you are coming more and more sleepy...

Next comes MAGIC GAS.

You can smell mask as shown in the left.

Does it have smell of ice cream, cake, pudding or something else?

Now you CANNOT KEEP AWAKE.

It's secret what happens thereafter.

But you do not need to worry.

Everything that may give you pain will be finished while you are sleeping.

When the operation is over, the doctor will wake you up.

When you wake up and your mammy, dad or your grandma comes, you can tell her what you sew and what happened in the operation room, can't you?
