Shichimenzan

When you go up from the main hall of the Hotoji temple along the Syousendo and the mausolem of Nissyousyounin, you will arrive at Shichimenzan. The Shichimenzan is the deity for the Hotoji temple and it enshrines the Kissyouten (The God of good omen). It is also accessible from along the Fukakusa graveyard and it is good climb therefrom. The Fukakusa graveyard was originally the army graveyard but was opened to public in 1958. In contrast to the modern ossuary or cemetery, along the wooded walking path lie the cenotaph of the "Manchurian Incident" and the graveyards of people killed in war, thereby casting the shadow of army burial grounds. The course along these graveyards, Shichimenzan and Hotoji temple forms a picturesque view from the top of the mountain. The course might even be considered a good promenade. Behind Inariyama, in the valley between it, is the headwater of Sunagawa which means the Sand river from which Sungawa Primary School derives its name.
