Revive Naka-gusuku!! (3)
(April 24, 1997)

Inside of the abandoned restaurant.

When I was walking in the abandoned building, there were two stout young Americans and an American boy about 50 meters before me.

The two stout men looked like servicemen in a holiday, and I guessed the boy was a son of their friend or colleague.
They gave up going to the observation platform that was at an end of the building, and walked back.

When we passed by, one of them said to me in Japanese,
'KOWAI DESU NE (It's fearful here, isn't it?)'
I answered in English,
'It's terrible!'
and the other responded in English,
'Oh, yes!'
This strange conversation indicates a bright and pleasant side of today's Okinawa, I think.

Soon after, I, too, gave up reaching at the observation platform.
It was too fearful to move on alone!!
