At the next dawn, Saturday, Ikkyuu and the vigilante corps went to the small bridge where Niwa and Shibata had been attacked by OTHERS, and wait for it.
An hour passed, then OTHERS appeared.
Head was Ninja. A cherry blossom tattoo was on the middle of the forehead. The eyes were dove's, and the legs were dog's. The body was firefly's, fluttering its wings in the air, and the haunch was glimmering yellow.
Watched by vigilantes and spectators, Ikkyuu and OTHERS confronted with each other.
As usual, OTHERS said 'OTHERS' in a low voice through the Ninja-mask.
Ikkyuu breathed deeply and said,
'are others! And I am...'
The voice echoed throughout the lane. The vigilantes and the spectators witnessed OTHERS responding,
'nothing but me!' with a contented smile playing about its lips.
With its haunch staying yellow, OTHERS began to be enveloped by a white mysterious glitter, and vanished soon.
Ikkyuu joined his hands in prayer.
'OTHERS vanished!' 'He got it!'
Everyone was in an admiration of Ikkyuu.
'Others are others, and I am nothing but myself. Anyway, I go my way, just my way.'
This is the words of Dr. Nishida that was inscribed on a stone monument set besides the bridge. Ikkyuu explained what had happened.
'OTHERS is a monster born from philosophical debate among doves, fireflies, cherry trees and dogs who live or play along Philosophers' Lane. They hoped human to remember the importance of thinking. This is Philosophers' Lane. Don't only enjoy its elegance. Don't only do business around here. Please think. Get into the habit of thinking at least three times a day. Only this can keep OTHERS away.'
