In Ishigaki-jima, one of the most south islands of OKinawa prefecture, you can find a mannequin of Miroku-God in Yayeyama-Minzoku-En, a park-like museum about nature and traditional life-styles of the region.
Miroku-God, originates in Mahayana Buddhism, is worshiped in Okinawa as a presenter of the blessings of nature.
This Miroku-God visited persons who voted last autmn for dismissal of all the judges who had dismissed a reasonable and heart-rending appeal by Okinawa prefecture about a severe burden of US bases. Under the Japan-US Security Treaty, 75% of US military facilities in Japan concentrate in Okinawa, only 0.6% of a country.
At the World War 2, Okinawa was used as a shield for the rest of the country by Japanese military government, and was destroyed and abandoned. And now, Japanese democratic government forces Okinawa to be their shield again.
Miroku said to the people who voted for dismissal of all the evel judges,
'I express my gratitude for you,'
and started dancing 'ANGAMA', one of the traditional dances of Okinawa, and soon disappeared into the air.
If you want to see ANGAMA of Miroku-God, try something that Miroku would be thankful.
