Prophecy of Ojizo-sama?
KYOTO SANGA Strikes Back! (PLEASE!)
(February 27, 1997)

Walking along old streets or visiting old towns and villages in Japan, you will find stone statues of Ojizo-sama.
For more than 1,000 years, Ojizo-sama has been believed as a Guardian of children and also a tolerant Savior who recieves our pains and disasters making himself a vicarious sacrifice for us.

In Kyoto City, somebody is putting purple lipsticks on Ojizo-samas' lips.
This reminds me of one old tale. That is...

Once upon a time in a small island, there was a terrifying legend which said, 'When their Ojizo-sama's face get into red, this island will go under sea.'
One day, to frighten islanders two young men painted Ojizo-sama's face red. It frightened residents to escape from the island, and next day the island really went under sea with those two young men...

Will Kyoto City go under Kamo River or Hirosawa Pond? I asked a Fortuneteller, Mr. Mahariku-Ukiyoye. 'What dose red lips of Ojizo-samas' mean?'
'It is a sign of striking back of Kyoto Purple Sanga, our tailender football team. Sanga will be the best team of west Japan this year!'
Oh dear! I didn't renew a membership of Kyoto Sanga Fun Club!

Small shrines of Ojizo-sama.
Ojizo-samas are standing insides of them.

Note

We Love Ojizo-sama!

Now I write One of Another Old Tales of Ojizo-sama.
On hot summer day. Children threw Ojizo-sama into a pond.
They also jumped in, and played standing on Ojizo-sama's head and shoulders cheerfully.
An old man passing by scolded children not to do such a blasphemy.
On that night, when the old man was sleeping, Ojizo-sama came to him and said,
'I was playing with children very cheerfully. Why did you disturb? Don't disturb again, Ok? Now, I will go round a village to keep children's sleep well.'
The old man swore he would never separate children from Ojizo-sama.
