Sobbing Stone of Gion
(September 4, 1997)

From the dark of the night, you hear someone sobbing or crying.
'Who? Who are you? You need my help?'
You go to where the whisper comes from, but can't find people there.
You find a mysterious stone sobbing or crying there ...

This kind of legend can be found in all over Japan.

In Kyoto, Sobbing Stone is at the foot of the old tree, in front of Hiyoshi-sha Shrine, in Yasaka-Jinja Shrine in Gion.

Hiyoshi-sha Shrine and the Sobbing Stone (Yonaki Ishi).

I think it's nothing but an ordinary stone, but it is said to sob or cry at night.
Does the stone keep somebody's grudge?
Or is that an unknown creature like stone?

Please listen to the above picture.
You may be able to hear it sob or cry ... ?
