The efficacy of anti-viral teatment (acyclovir, g-globulin) was assessed in the treatment of three patients with sudden onset total deafnesses. Two of the three patients showed slight improvement in hearing disorders, but the remaining patient showed no improvement. One of the three cases was suspected of having some relation to an infection by herpes simplex virus. A more effective protocol for sudden onset total deafnesses is needed.
