Last week I visited an international goodwill party in Kusatsu, Shiga prefecture. There a Peruvian schoolgirl whom I knew was playing a Japanese battledore and shuttlecock, HAGOITA, against a middle aged Japanese man.
In the game, if missed a shot, a seal was affixed to a face and 5 seals on a face meant a loser. The schoolgirl was having a tough game.
When the Japanese missed a shot, I advised to the girl, 'Now is a chance! Affix a seal to his eye! He will lose his sight and you can win!' The girl smiled, and affixed a seal to his nose.
Oh, what a shameless I was!
May the future of the girl who did not yield to the devilish advice flourish!
'Yes, I was shameless...'
I confess.
