A Messenger of BOTAMOCHI
(October 15, 1998)

I wrote OHAGI and BOTAMOCHI is same.

It was wrong.
A Messenger of BOTAMOCHI visited me and told sorrowfully,

'Well, OHAGI and BOTAMOCHI are essentially different.
A rice ball inside of OHAGI remains shapes of rice, but that of BOTAMOCHI doesn't. Rices used for them are different.
Additionally, OHAGI is covered with sweetened red beans, soybean flour, or sesame and salt. But, BOTAMOCHI is coated with sweetened red beans only.
Nowadays, there are so many people that misunderstand the truth of OHAGI and BOTAMOCHI. This is a sad influence of mass production of food.

Next spring when I eat BOTAMOCHI, I hope I find the truth.

A Messenger of BOTAMOCHI.
