著書 磯野香澄俳句の世界とその英訳本
今回平成二十二年十一月に昨年上梓した〔磯野香澄俳句の世界〕を今年(平成二十二年十一月)に英訳して上梓する事が出来ました。日本語は世界一素晴らしいと言われていますが、その日本語で綴る五、七、五のリズムの俳句がいかに素晴らしいものかと言う事を外国の方にも知って戴きたいと思い、たどたどしい英語だと思うのですが何とか完成させる事が出来ました。
ここにその表紙、前書き、後書きそして内容の一部を載せてみます。

Preface
今回私が俳句と言う日本古来の文学の真髄を英訳して、英語圏の方に読んで戴きたいと思いました。
This time -- I translated the essence of haiku poem literature from ancient
times into English, and wished to be read by English speakers.
俳句は、芭蕉が連歌の挨拶句から漂泊の旅の末に到達した、四次元を浮遊する世界にひとつしかない文学形態です。
A
haiku poem has an unique literary form in the world which was generated from the
greeting phrase of a renga by Basho after his drifting trip . And it floats in
four dimensions.
俳句の[俳]と言う字は人に非と書きます。これは俳句そのものが一つの生き物だと言う意味です。
The
character Hai [俳] character of
a haiku [俳句] poem is composed with two character of person [人] and [非].
This means that the haiku poem itself is one living thing..
又、[俳]と言う字は人から離れるとも言う意味で、作者から離れてしまう一つの生き物だと言う意味になります。
The character hai [俳] also has a meaning which is separation from people, and
becomes a meaning referred to as being one living thing which separates from the
author.
俳句はドキュメンタリーを現在進行形で表します。
The haiku express documentary with the present progressive form.
俳句は写実だけで情感を読み手に感じて戴く様に書きます。
A haiku poem is written so that a reader may feel emotion only by realistic
description.
読み手が御自身に見えたイメージでその俳句の情感を感じられる様に作っています。
I expressed so that the emotion of the haiku poem could be felt in the image
which is visible to the readers themselves.
私はこうした俳句を直訳して何となくその情感を感じ取って戴けたらと思いました。
I translated a haiku poem literally, and I thought if the emotion can be taken
in and obtained somehow.
私は俳句は写実だけを書きますので直訳すれば単語は簡単に分かって戴けると思いました。
Me -- a haiku poem I thought that a word was understood simply and I could
obtain it if it translates literally since I write haiku poems by realistic
description.
訳しているうちに俳句は日本語独特の表現が多い事に気がつきました。
While translating, haiku poems from Japanese to English, I noticed that there is
much expression peculiar to Japanese.
そこでその俳句の内容を書き添えました。そして日本人の詩的情感を汲み取って頂ける様にと思いました。
Then, the contents of the haiku poem were added in writing.. And I considered
so that Japanese poetic emotion might be understood by doing so.
尚俳句の読み方をローマ字で五音、七音、五音に分けて日本語で書いた俳句が音でリズム的に詠じて戴けたらと思いルビとして書き添えました。
Haiku poems are composed with 15 syllables of five, seven , and five syllables .
I added the kana for readers to feel the rhythm from the poem.
又拗音は二文字で一音読みになります。ローマ字では三文字になります。
Moreover, a contracted sound turns into one sound with two characters. In
Roman alphabet, the sound are written down with three characters.
作者は心に響く出来事に出会った時に感じた私情は十七文字の字面には一切書いていません。
The
personal feelings felt when the author met with the occurrence which sounds the
heart are not writing to the appearance of written words of 17 characters at
all.
読み手には表面に現れた出来事だけを作者は書いて渡します。
The author writes and hands a reader only the occurrence which appeared in the
surface.
作者は具体的に書いているだけですが、その最初に感じた心に響いた情感を読み手に渡す事が出来ます。
Although the author is only writing concretely, the auther can hand a reader
the emotion which sounded the heart felt for the beginning.
俳句は主に名詞と動詞と助詞で十七文字を操作します。これは日本語でこそ表現出来る技です。
A haiku poem mainly operates 17 characters by the noun, the verb, and a
particle. This is the work which
can be expressed just in Japanese.
俳句はこの短い詩形の中に起承転結がきちっと有ります。
A haiku poem has introduction development turn and conclusion exactly in this
short poetry type.
俳句はイメージからその句の味わいを感じられる様に作られています。
The haiku poem is made so that the taste of the phrase can be felt from an
image.
そこには四次元的な力が働いて作者と読み手がその空間を共有します。
Power of four dimensions works in the haiku poem and the author and a reader
share the space.
こうした深い所をどこ迄感じて戴けるか分かりませんが、本物の俳句がどんなに素晴らしいものか、又凄い力を発揮出来るものかを少しでも感じて戴きたいと思いました。
Although I do not know how far readers can feel the depth of such a haiku poem,
I hope readers, feel the wonderfulness of a real haiku poem, and the uncanny
power which it has.
この書で私は皆さんが俳句の有情を楽しんで戴ける様に願っています。
I am wishing with this writing that readers will enjoy animate being of haiku
poems.

seat It is the first light of 1000 years after to the yard
この一段高い御座は千年前に天皇がお座りになった所だ お庭には千年前と同じ新年の光が射している。
This
seat that is high one step is the place where the Emperor sat down 1000 years
ago. The light of the same
new year as 1000-year before is shining on the yard.
新年の
甍が光り 寺の町

The
tiled roof of the new year shines and it is a town of a temple
新年のドライブで寺の町を見下ろした私達 反り返った屋根瓦があちこちで光っている。
We
looked down on the town of the temple by the drive of the new year. Warped roofing tiles have shone here and there.
掌の中の
螢が光り 子の笑顔

The
firefly in a palm shines and it is a child's smiling face
蛍を彼が手で一匹捕らえた 掌を広げて見せると螢が光ってその光で子の笑顔が浮かんで見えた。
He caught one firefly with both hands.
When a palm was opened and shown, the firefly shone and the child's
smiling face appeared with the light.
あとがき
Postscript
この書は本物の俳句を全世界の方に知って戴きたいと、思う私の初期からの願いで書きました。
I
wrote this writing from the wish from the early stages of my composed haiku
activities which I regard as my wanting the people in the world to know a haiku
poem.
又これは私の究極の願いでもあります。
Moreover, this is also my ultimate wish.
その一歩として英語圏の方に先ずお伝えしたいと思いましたが、言葉の壁は大きいと思います。
Although I thought that I would have people who speak English for my haiku poems
read as the first step for realizing my wish, I think that the wall of language
is large.
今書いている思いがどれだけ伝わるかも分かりませんが、余生をかけてこの日本の文学の素晴らしさを、詩歌を愛好される方々にお伝えしたいと願っています。
Although which is not understood whether the thought which I am writing now gets
across to you, readers, I am hoping to tell wonderfulness of this Japanese
literature to people who love poems, spending the rest of my life.
どうかこの思いが全世界の方に伝わりますように。
May this thought get across to people in the world !

英訳がうまく伝わる様にと思いますが、これを試作として次の製作につなぎたいと思います。
Although I think that what is necessary is just to be able to translate into English well, I would like to continue this to the next step as the first step of translation.
